Rosewood Phnom Penh, A Sense of Place

Soaring nearly 200 meters above the very heart of the Cambodia Capital and the central business district lies the new ultra-luxury Rosewood, our hotel of choice during our entire stay in Phnom Penh. Topping out the 39-story of the city’s most iconic, as well as the tallest, Vattanac Capital Tower, displaying the unparalleled and unstructured 360 degrees view of the mighty Mekong River as well as the city from the former French colonial quarter in the north all the way to the Royal Place in the Southeast. Setting a new level of luxury in Phnom Penh. We seriously could not choose a better home away from home in this city.

Arrived in style with Rosewood’s luxury airport transfer in their new sleeky black Jaguar. As we stepped out from the car, we were them warmly welcome by the Rosewood team who switched escorted us to the beautiful 35th Floor lobby. As we exited, the endless huge floor to ceiling glass wall boasts the jaw dropping panoramic views all over the city. The hotel and its design well capture the essence of the Khmer architectural together with the French colonial heritage style. Resulting in the subtle classic-meets-contemporary polish. Rosewood Phnom Penh truly embraces its group philosophy “A Sense of Place”. We are absolutely in love with the attention to detail and the ambience of this place.

Shortly, we were checked into the exclusive Norodom House, 2422 square feet or 225 square meter suite. Norodom house comes with its very own stocked private bar, an opulent living room, and fine dining room, sauna room, and the butler service. All of the amenities from bathrobes to towel were all custom made from one of Patrick’s favorite brands, you have guessed it, Maison Margiela. The best part is not any of those, but its very own enormous bathtub perfectly positioned in the middle of our lavish bathroom against the floor-to-ceiling window offering that breathtaking city view and the Mekong River while soaking it up and sipping champagne in a bathtub. This is most definitely my favorite spot. If you cannot find me, know that I will be there.

Other highlights are most definitely its top-notch dining spots ranging from Brasserie Louis, a French Cambodian restaurant, Zhang Liang.  a fine Chinese dining focusing on signature Cantonese cuisine, Cuts, voted as Cambodia’s best restaurant by Travel + Leisure and a home to 3,000 wine bottles & its chocolate wagyu is a must try, and Sora,  meaning Sky in Japanese, is the hotel’s ritzy sky bar with the most spectacular panoramic sunset vista in the city. It is no wonder that this sleep skyscraper hotel has established itself as one of Phnom Penh landmarks.

Notable mentioned are the fleet of all Rosewood custom and leather-lined Tuk-Tuk. The hotel offers a complimentary drop off and pick up within the 2 kilometers radius. Which includes the gorgeous Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, National Museum, The independent monument, and the Central Market. We had such a wonderful stay and we most definitely will be staying here again on our next trip to Phnom Penh. Until then.
